I was there, the worlds biggest Bigfoot fan, and as I remember that was Bigfoot 8’s 1st event, and after he rolled over they turned him over and they raced again. Andy didnt go as hard as he did before and lost but it was cool to see him race again right after turning over.

thanks for the info, yes taraus had the box tube frame and bigfoot 8 i already knew that he had tube frame but i didnt know he was the first to have nitrogen shocks. cool.

Yes. This Taurus was the first with long travel suspension and a MODERN four link set up (there had been other four link trucks before this, but they were obviously not the same). Bigfoot 8 was the first truck with a tube frame, Nitrogen shocks, etc.

OMG I was AT this event in the Houston Astrodome! It was my 10th Birthday….Nov. 4, 1989. What great memories and how time really flies.

You know, I always thought the classic deep blue paint scheme always looked better on Bigfoot 8 than the stripes. And it’s not because it’s the old-school Bigfoot color, it just…LOOKS better on the fiberglass body. I can’t explain it.

Also, USHRA had horrible luck with announcers. They got this guy who can’t pronounce Andy Brass’s name at all, then they went and got Brett Kepner, who can’t pronounce…ANYONE’S name at all.

This was indeed Bigfoot 8’s first ever event. And if I’m mistaken, wasn’t this the last televised show to pair Mike Galloway and Ken Broo together?

I really miss all the monster truck shows I watched as a kid. The old-timey trucks were a lot of fun to watch.

I saw the Honeycomb Tarus in my home town of Ohio. It had the honeycomb wheels and all. It had high tech suspension at the time. It also had lots of power compaired to alot of others.

Omg! thank you so much for uploading this! I had this entire event recorded when i was a kid, then I lost soon after… I remember noticing the new suspension, and thinking that was so cool.
